MCDT 2015 Fashion Show
Mallow College of Design & Tailoring is a fashion academy tucked away in the West End side of Mallow, North Cork. Here you’ll find founder Mary Cashman inspiring up-and-coming fashion designers learning through her vast knowledge of fashion design blended with her well acclaimed “can do” attitude!
On Friday 29th of May I was delighted to attend the MCDT Annual Fashion Show. The purpose of the show is to display the work designed by first, second and third year students that was created throughout the year. This is a fantastic way to showcase the amazing work by all the students and the Silver Springs Hotel, Cork was the ideal location.
The show was beautifully dedicated to the late John McNamara, a fashion designer from Limerick. Celia Holman Lee, who’s modelling agency was featured in the show, was a very close friend of Johns and I felt he was sadly missed on the night. Everything went off without a hitch, thank you John for looking over everybody on the night!
That night there was a stand at the back of the ballroom with fabrics, buttons and ribbons by Hilary O’ Conner of Make It Interesting. Hilary came from Tipperary and had a brilliant selection of trimmings to get the creative juices flowing. It was fantastic to have her there as it’s difficult to locate shops with such a brilliant and modern variety!
Without further delay, check out some photos I took on the night..
As you can see, there are some very interesting designs with some incredibly insane details! I was definitely inspired by the fashion show and I’m thinking of doing the millinery course! I think hairdressing and millinery would go hand-in-hand in creating a truly unique look. I hope you enjoyed looking at the few photos I took. There are many other designs I didn’t get to capture on my camera, but if you look up the MCDT Facebook Page you’ll see the entire collection there in their photo albums.
I would like to congratulate my mother Ita O’ Rahilly, and my sister Rachel O’ Connell who took part in the fashion show, featuring their own designs they created throughout the year. I’m extremely proud and can’t wait to have my own custom design clothes!!
Overall the fashion show was most definitely a success. It’s an absolute credit to Mary, Sue and Jess. I’m looking forward to next years show already!
if anyone would like any of the above photos credited, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
