ABM Stays & Sleeps: Dromhall Hotel and Zen Day Spa, Killarney
On the 13th of February 2016, my partner and I took off to Killarney, Co. Kerry for a romantic night away.
Review of Dromhall Hotel, Killarney
Located within walking distance of Killarney town centre, Dromhall Hotel prides itself with first class comfort and service. The hotel includes 72 luxurious guest rooms, meeting rooms and wedding suites, Kayne’s Bar & Bistro and The Abbey Restaurant. There is also complimentary Parking and Wi-Fi access available at the hotel.
I was very impressed with the hotel when we first pulled into the car park. The exterior looked very well-kept, combined seamlessly with quaint architecture, created a very welcoming atmosphere. The reception area, immaculately bright and fresh, is immediately striking upon walking through the entrance. Fabulous lobby decor doesn’t distract from the enticing entry to both Kaynes Bar & Bistro and The Abbey Restaurant. Immediately greeted by a smiling receptionist, we were early but delighted to be informed that our room was ready.
The room was basic, clean and comfortable. No fuss or frills. The bathroom was spacious and very clean with complimentary towels and toiletries. Unfortunately there was no fridge or safety box in the room. This would be more of a concern for me if I was staying for more than one night. The room was perfect for purpose as most of the night was spent in Killarney town. When I said above that the hotel is within walking distance I wasnt lying; I walked in and out of town in my stilettos!
On Sunday 14th of February, breakfast was served in the Abbey Restaurant from 8.30am – 10.30am. I can not express enough how much I enjoyed breakfast! It was fabulous! The room was so well layed out and I got a seat by the window. Very picturesque. I picked the Full Irish option off the menu and it was nice. Service was top-notch: greeted immediately upon arrival and then the tea and toast just kept on coming. I was in my element. I literally told Mr. Marzipan to head back to the room so I could stay even longer enjoying breakfast! A perfect Valentines treat, just me and the breakfast ;)
Overall my experience staying at the Dromhall Hotel was a very positive one. I would definitely go back again and I would highly recommend the hotel to stay in.
Review of Zen Day Spa, Killarney
Zen Day Spa is located on the grounds of Dromhall Hotel. The Spa offers a vast selection of treatments with complimentary use of the leisure centre hosting a sauna, steam room and heated swimming pool. Zen Day Spa treatments utilise the purest organic certified products which are hand-made locally by Florish Organics – an artisan skincare range, enriched with highly therapeutic plant oils and natural ingredients.
We both booked in for a deep tissue massage. I knew it wasnt going to be the most relaxing treatment but I felt my shoulders needed a good pounding. My therapists name was Martina and she was brilliant! I got a really good sore and stinging deep tissue massage, I was sore for a few days but this is a sign of a good treatment. The spa itself had a very relaxing vibe- dimmed lights and candles flickering everywhere. Everyone I dealt with within the spa was very friendly and professional.
Bonus- if you are a guest in the hotel, you get 10% off any treatment!
As this was my first deep tissue massage I therefore have nothing to compare the experience too. I felt I was well looked after in the Spa and I would go again if I was to stay in the Hotel again. For those of you that do decide to stay in Dromhall, definitely treat yourself and book into Zen Spa- you only live once!
To conclude my review, I can’t express enough how lovely it was to stay in Dromhall Hotel and relax in Zen Day Spa. I would highly recommend these establishments to anyone wishing to stay in Killarney. Hopefully I will get to Killarney again soon.
Until Next Time,
