Video | Smokey Eyes | Wet n Wild Au Natural Palette
In my latest YouTube tutorial, I give you a step-by-step guide on how to create the classic smokey eye using one of Wet n Wild’s newer palettes – Au Natural in “Nude Awakening”.
This palette has a great range of colours. You have everything you need when it comes to creating an eye look – base, lid, crease and smokey colours. Use the dark brown and black shade easily as an eyeliner, and the lighter shades could double up as highlighters also.
Considering this palette is drugstore, I’m quite impressed with the quality. It is nowhere in compatible to my all time favourite INGLOT eyeshadows, but perhaps if you’re starting to get into makeup, or prefer to stick to drugstore brands, Wet n Wild is one of my favourite budget beauty buys.
I admire the cruelty free and almost vegan variety of products Wet n Wild produce. One of their recent campaigns, Photofocus, was in my opinion, a huge success. In the video you will also see me using the Photofocus Foundation and Pressed Powder. I really enjoy wearing the foundation (although the smell of the product itself is not pleasant, but it works).
Swiftly coming back to the focus of this post – the eyeshadow palette, there are a few things I need to note. The shades are extremely pigmented, however they have quite a bit of kick-back. I would recommend doing your eyeshadow before applying your foundation, and then have the freedom of wiping away the excess fallout. In the video, you won’t see much fallout (my camera didn’t really pick it up), but there was quite a bit. And that is after excessively tapping the brush before application.
Another problem to note is the wear time of the shadows. I do have quite the oily eyelid and noticed the creasing taking place after a few hours. However, if I were to use an eyeshadow primer instead of the MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer, this may not be the case. If you have oily eyelids and plan on trying out the palette, definitely prep with an eyeshadow primer.
