Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara

#MascaraMonday! In today’s Mascara Monday post I present to you Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara. Let’s first talk about the packaging. Luxury. The outside packaging is fabulous, there’s a nice weight to the product which I particularly like. The design of the packaging is very simple. All glossy black with a textured matte stripe vertically aligned down the centre. You can see how pretty it is in the picture!

Lets take a look at the wand, the main feature of the product.

The innovative lash wand allows you to bed it to a 90º angle. I honestly have not seen a lash like this on the market yet. It is very simple to bend the wand, as you are opening it up, you use the lip of the bottle to bend the wand. A simple design, yet original innovative idea.

The actual wand has many spikes on one side and is empty on the other side. Givenchy has many different lash wands which I was delighted to discover. I might even try out a few more of their mascaras!

My Thoughts

OK, lets get into the performance and my thoughts on the product. As always, I will show you the mascara applied on one eye, next to my mascara-less, bare eyelashes on the other eye.

One Coat

Two Coats

Three Coats

Let’s get stuck into my review! First of all, the mascara smells beautiful. It smells floral, and I love it! You can even smell it after its applied. I don’t mind it at all, but if you are sensitive to smells then it might not be the one for you.

As you can see from the pictures above, this mascara is going to give length and definition. Even though the claims say it will add volume, for me it did not.

I really enjoy the teeth of the wand. I’m a fan of more spike teethed wands as opposed to fluffy “natural” wands. In regards to the mascara wand being able to bend, it worked really well for me. My inner corner lashes were reached easily by bending the lash wand. I would like to point out, as a professional in the makeup industry, whenever I use a disposable wand for applying mascara on someone else, I end up bending it 90º to reach all the hairs easily. When the mascara is empty, this wand would be a great addition to the makeup kit of any professional. It will be easy to sanitize as the teeth are separated enough and I can imagine it would fit easily into any other mascara tube afterwards. Save on purchasing many disposable mascara wands!

Lets see how it lasted throughout the day..

These pictures were taken after about 10 hours of two coats wear. OK, so I’m working on a post on how to avoid fallout with mascaras and I was practicing one of my tips this particular day. In the first photo you can see a few tiny flecks of mascara, and on the other eye there was no fallout. For me, this is amazing as this mascara is not waterproof. However, on a regular day, I did notice quite a bit of fallout and I’m annoyed I kept forgetting to take a picture. If you suffer from fall out like myself, make sure to follow the blog as I will be sharing some tips soon on how to avoid the fall out!

I noticed while wearing the mascara my lashes felt very soft, like they had no mascara on them at all. I was impressed by this. usually they feel hard and sometimes mascaras make my lashes feel itchy like I want to pull out all my lashes (anyone else?).. This product felt very comfortable all day long and it was easily removed at the end of the day.

As I said previously, this mascara gave me a pile of length and definition, but no volume. I’m usually not one for more natural looking lashes, I want them to look like they are false (lots of volume & length)! If you love to add length and definition to your lashes, you should try it out!

You can purchase Givenchy Noir Interdit on Sephora for $38 and is available now. Have you tried out this mascara? What did you think? Are you going to purchase it to see how you like it yourself? Let me know in the comments!
